DAF Day is October 8

Every survivor our partners identify has people behind them they will never meet. People who decided, sometimes years earlier, that this work mattered.

Many of those people give through donor-advised funds. So far in 2026, more than half of the dollars our individual donors gave to Allies Against Slavery came through a DAF. That is generosity planned with care. It was set aside ahead of time and held until it could do the most good.

On Thursday, October 8, donors across the country will mark DAF Day, a day to put those set-aside dollars to work. To everyone who already gives to us this way: thank you. You are part of the backbone of this work. And if you hold a DAF and care about ending human trafficking, we would be honored to have you join them.

What is a DAF?

A donor-advised fund is a giving account. You put money in, get the tax deduction right away, and choose where to give later.

It's a smart way to give, and a generous one:

• You get the tax deduction now.

• You give on your own timeline.

• Your money can grow tax-free while it waits.

• You can give stock, which often avoids capital gains tax.

What your gift does

Every $100 identifies and protects one survivor of trafficking.

Most people who are trafficked cross paths with a teacher, nurse, caseworker, or police officer while it's happening. Too often, no one knows what to look for. That is the gap we exist to close.

Through Lighthouse Screening, Allies Against Slavery equips those professionals with a proven tool to recognize the signs. Since 2016, our partners have completed more than 250,000 screenings and identified more than 25,000 victims. Behind every one of those numbers is a person who was finally seen.

And your gift reaches further than screening. Lighthouse Data brings state and national data into one platform so policymakers, law enforcement, and service providers can see where trafficking happens and act on it. Our research team released the annual State Human Trafficking Report, a 50-state look at two decades of policies and federal prosecutions, and in 2025 our data was featured for the first time in the U.S. State Department's Trafficking in Persons Report. On policy, we partnered with Texas Representative Senfronia Thompson to help pass two laws: one requires statewide human trafficking data collection, and one mandates universal screening for systems-involved youth.

Your DAF grant is how that work grows. It trains more screeners, puts better data in the hands of decision-makers, and helps more survivors find their way to safety and support.

How to give from your DAF

There are two easy ways to give. Choose whichever works best for you.

Online, in a few clicks

1. Visit our donor-advised fund page and click Donate.

2. In the donation window, choose DAF on the left.

3. Click Donate with DAFpay to connect your DAF and start your grant right away. Or choose Get instructions for a manual DAF donation, and the details will be sent to you.

Online gifts are processed by our giving partner, Every.org, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that grants your gift to Allies Against Slavery.

Through your DAF provider

1. Log in to your DAF account. We welcome grants from Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, Vanguard Charitable, DAFgiving360, National Christian Foundation, and community foundations.

2. Search for Allies Against Slavery by name, or use our EIN: 46-4932633.

3. Recommend your grant. In the grant note, add "DAF Day 2026" and your contact details so we can thank you.
