The Center for Elimination of Disproportionality and Disparities is hosting its second Cross-Systems Summit. The theme will be Collaborating to Achieve Equity.
The summit will focus on collaborating across systems to address racial inequities and how service delivery in health and human services, education, juvenile justice, housing, disability, and other areas affect outcomes. The summit will feature breakout sessions both days and will be a great opportunity to collaborate around methods to address disproportionality and disparities and improve outcomes for communities across Texas. The event is free and open to the public and may be of special interest to community and faith-based representatives, provider organizations, and those who work in health and human services, juvenile justice, education, housing, and disability.
The summit will feature Rinku Sen, award winning author, speaker, activist and leading figure in the racial justice movement; award winning author Tunette Powell; Captain James Dickens, a senior public health advisor for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health; and Roman Catholic theologian and social ethicist, Alex Mikulich.
Breakout sessions will include topics such as achieving health equity; policy informed practice; social equity in transportation; social movement around disabilities; community engagement innovations; impacting racial and ethnic inequities in child welfare; and restorative discipline.
Continuing education credit for multiple disciplines will be provided for this event.
